Help?

I don't own the 4.5 DVDs yet, and I really, really, really can't wade through another one of Jacob's recaps.

When setting up the mission for Hera, does Lee ever protest its unlikely success to his father? And if so, how does Adama answer him? (Not exact words, just what logic does he use?) Basically, does Lee call his dad out on this basically being a suicide mission?

I'm still peeking at the episode in question, but it doesn't look like it. Lee's surprised when Adama and Kara walk in and start putting down their tape line, then there's a montage of various people doing "deliver the information" kinds of speeches, and Lee's one of them.

ugh, Jacob's recaps...

ETA: done with information dump montage, now Adama's doing the actual call for volunteers. "MAKE. YOUR. CHOICE!" And no questioning from Lee in the meantime.

Hah, now I got sucked in by the cool centurions with the red stripe painted across their torsos. Still no big talk between Lee and his dad, and we're about to go into action.

Skipped past lamentable Adama-the Tighs scene in stripclub. (My eyes!)

Oooh, the red stripe!!! :) Not having the DVDs is going to be painful for this section. Eek. :)

And yeah, good scene to skip!!!!

Now Lee is marching with stripey centurions within the Colony! Awwwwwww...

I love the part where the Six leads them. I have no idea why, but I do.

And now Athena has just shot Boomer. :(

Yeah, that's enough series finale nostalgia for the night. So, nope, no speech from Lee about how this is a group suicide run. No real goodbye between the Adamas as they prepare for the mission. Though you could certainly insert one somewhere...

Thanks so much!!!!

It was a real shock to me when I realized how many of these people were basically passively suicidal. I mean, I'm sure they were hoping to make it back, but they very much must have had the attitude of "I'll choose how I die, thanks, and I choose this." Very depressing.

Thanks a million!!!!

I think Lee was suicidal, too. Why else TAKE YOUR HELMET OFF just before marching into battle? @@→∞

(Me too! And I love the part where Lee does a marine-type hand gesture at them.)

I love the part where you see Nowart get shot by the Cylons and just drop.

Red-stripe centurions for the win! That battle started off so well...every time I rewatch it, I get all excited, even knowing how flat it goes in the end.

(*coughs* I'd have liked the Tighs in the strip club, if Adama had been edited out. Because they're awesomely frakked up like that, so it makes sense. Adama is eugh, though.)

Back to the original question, I think you figured out that Lee doesn't talk to his dad at all in the finale. Huh. Actually, other than leading the recon, Lee doesn't have anything to do, does he? Poor guy.

I'd have liked A WHOLE LOT OF THIS SHOW more if Adama had been edited out. ;) The Tighs are trashy and beautiful and awesome in those scenes.

LOL! True facts! I've sometimes found myself wishing that Admiral Cain had won their confrontation...I know, blasphemous of me, and definitely a mark against my sanity. ;-)

There is something special about the Tighs relationship. In every sense of that word. And gods, how I love it. <3

Thanks! I feel like he kind of has to have that scene with his father in this, but I couldn't remember if he ever gave Lee any logic as to why he was going on a suicide mission.

And yeah. Jacob's recaps. Wading through all the purple prose to find the few lines of dialogue he sticks in there... ::Sugh::

The sad part is that before Jacob became a douche in love with the sound of his own voice and a power-drunk message board weasel, he was a pretty good recapper. *shrugs*

He was never particularly good at *recapping*, but he was good at being insightful and catching things you might've missed if you'd seen the episode already. And then... sigh.

Yeah, until you realize that like most of the recappers over there he let the boards do the bulk of the noticing work for him. At least the Glee recapper *admits* that the people on the boards notice some of the things that he mentions.

Once Jacob got "power" was when he douched out and went over the top in love with his own words. I miss the "old" Jacob recaps.

Also, I have not forgotten the troll. ;}

I actually thought so, too. His stuff used to be funny. And to give Jacob credit, at least HE remembered the dead in his recaps. I think I read them just for that. But his attitude towards some of my favorite characters (he's always hated Felix and he's considered responsible for a lot of the Cally hate) really turned me off a while back. And the constant literary references and purple prose when I just want to know what happened (although the insights are nice sometimes) drive me nuts.

::Sigh:: Thanks :) That one's been building for a while!

I think you already got your answer but -- no, weirdly, I don't recall any scene where Lee questions him about it.

Lee doesn't have much to say about the mission. He just says "that's what I would do. Leave only one way in and out" when they're looking at the map, and he also makes the phonecall to get the mutineers out of prison.

He does say something along the lines of "are we really going to risk all these lives for a single, solitary child," but he shuts up after Kara says she thinks the humans' future depend on Hera too.
