1. Molecular modelling SUCKS. Okay, boss? I have never done molecular modelling before in my life. I don't even know what I'm looking for. This would be fine... if I didn't have just a month and a half left before I was done!!!! Ugh.

2. If one more person comments on my weight at work, I WILL smack them.

3. It really, really sucks that you can't take Aleve when you're pregnant. That's all I have for painkiller, and I have a massive headache from said molecular modelling. (Fortunately, I have to stop tonight to get the ingredients for a black forest cake for Saturday, and I can pick up Tylenol, which I am allowed to take.)

4. Is it possible for us to have one serious conversation about this baby's name? One where hubby does NOT suggest Cassius Atticus Spartacus? I suspect the reason we don't is because we both know this kid is going to be called Tobias, even if we pretend to go through the process of picking something else out, and we DO still have three months. But I would just like to have the conversation at some point. ::sigh:: And we do still need a middle name, especially if my maiden name gets vetoed (which I suspect it will).

5. I really, really, really, really just wish my best friend at work would call the attorney already.

6. Okay, so I confess to posting there once or twice. (Twice- once about shipping in general and once about Remus/Tonks.) If I don't like it, I should just not look at it. But I look anyway, and the "10 things I can't stand about that ship" thread at FAP just seems like a bad, bad idea as recently it seems to be the place for Harry/Hermione and Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny shippers to snipe at each other. Which is really annoying, because sure, Harry/Hermione might not be canon, but there's nothing WRONG with that ship. It's not creepy. It's not weird. It doesn't even require major changes in the characters. It's not like it's Lucius/Draco, which I've seen, or Fenrir/Remus. It's two devoted friends. If someone wants to ship it, who the heck cares?????????????????????????? Likewise, Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione are not demented, sick couples. Oi. I gotta stop reading threads like that.

7. HPfGUs stands for Harry Potter for Grown Ups. Grown Ups. So why do so many grown ups get convinced that Harry can't have feelings for Ginny in canon, and she must be wearing a love potion perfume? Okay, the romance wasn't that well written (too much tell, not enough show), and there might be other issues with it, but again, it's not. that. weird. Heck- I can't stand Tonks and Remus, but I don't think there were love potions or curses or anything else involved. (I think he slept with her and fucked with her head a bit by accident, but hey. No one ever said Remus was a saint.) It's crappily written and it's a terrible match, but it's JKR's set of characters and if she wants them to fall in love in canon I'm not gonna come up with bizarre theories to get out of it.

Especially since my R/S fic is pre-Azkaban anyway.

8. We have an extension for the [livejournal.com profile] hp_synergy challenge. Which actually I shouldn't complain about because I could use more time (although I thought the deadline was Monday, and it's not) and I suspect from her posts that my partner in crime is having a rough time of it right now and could probably use the extension herself, which is totally cool. But I was on a roll with that fic and now I have to put it aside to do my other two, which I'm not on a roll with. Look, it's hot and I'm grumpy and I have a headache and I'm just wanting to complain.

I should write a Mutant Review, too. Several, in fact.

9. I will have absoutely nothing to grumble about when I get home tonight if it's anything like last night when I came home with an intense headache and hubby offered to cook (we just made our own easy dinners- all I wanted was soup- but still!) and dished me ice cream and gave me a backrub and flirted with me and was pretty much absolutely perfect. So all this grumbling is temporary.

10. And I should get back to work and go model, although what I'm looking for I have no idea. Anyone ever studied the flexibility of molecules?

I just write that pairing off as a bad job and deal with the rest of it. But to be honest, I've really not been as active in fandom as I thought I would be after HBP *shrug*. I need to stop saying this.

I wonder how active I'll be once I'm done the fics I have planned. Probably less so. She didn't really give me a lot to work with on subjects I am interested in, but I do still like reading R/S stuff. We'll see.

I'll just be glad when Accidentally In Love is done. Fricking novel.

Thanks. It did, actually. Venting is GOOD, and I was just in a bitchy mood. Venting is the best thing then ;)

Complain away, m'dear, it's what we're here for.

Only in terms of molecular hinges on peptides for binding to enzyme recognition sites (for the research I'm supposed to do, if I weren't stuck being a report/manager jockey these days grumble grrr snort). Angles and Angstroms is what comes to mind, but beyond that I have no clue. I've only seen the end result, never had to plow my way through it--that would give me a headache too.

I'm just glad someone knew what I was talking about! I wish I had the faintest clue, but I don't have much info on molecular flexibility. It doesn't seem to be a big deal in the literature... ::sigh::

Thanks!

It is a cellular peptide cake.

With mint frosting!

Best. Line. Ever.

Maybe check PubMed? Flexibility in terms of proteins seems fairly big, especially when it comes to pharmaceutical drug design. Maybe look at this? (My apologies if you already have.)
