Okay- I'm ready for a resurrection (hopes lightning bolts don't hit my computer). SO dead right now, and rather hoping hubby's up for just DVRing The Pacific and watching it Wednesday.
Hubby's family just left. Easter dinner was a success. How is it even the easier dinners are still exhausting? I made deviled eggs and (frozen, storebought) mini-quiches as munchies, and then ham, macaroni and cheese with bacon, shiitakes, and corn, plus plain old blue-box mac n cheese for the kids. MIL brought stovetop and corn (which I made, but at my own insistence, because MIL looked exhausted), SIL brought rolls and soda, and FSIL brought a strawberry and walnut spinach salad. Then I made parfaits for dessert- a layer of white chocolate mousse on the bottom, a layer of strawberry mousse on top of that, and then a layer of chocolate ganache-like sauce. I have not had mine yet, but I will. Right now I am seriously considering a bath, though. In the jacuzzi tub with a glass of wine and a brain-candy book.
My feet are KILLING me. I was thinking it was the running, but I'm starting to think it's not. My feet turn out when I walk, and my shoes get VERY worn down. I've been wearing the same pair of shoes for a year- I really need to get new ones. I think I need to go to the Sketchers outlet this week.
4. Tell us about one of your first stories/characters!
Hmm. Okay. Two answers again- fanfic and original.
Fanfic- I'm gonna admit to it, because I think we ALL do it. My very first fanfic OC on Pern was named Lyssa. Well, come on. Lissa is a REALLY pretty name, and it fits very well for fantasy. She did look a lot like me, but in a realistic way- she had mouse brown hair (the color of mine if I don't dye it), she wasn't skinny but wasn't really fat, and she wasn't meant to be pretty, but not ugly, either. She was just a normal looking girl that you wouldn't notice in a crowd, and I don't think I dwelled on her appearance much. She had issues with pushing herself professionally (she was a journeyman glass-smith with NO desire to Impress) and I really liked her, actually. But I totally forget what my first story was for her.
Original story. This goes all the way back to eighth grade, or something like it. It was pretty bad, and I don't remember much of it, but I do remember that it was about two kids who were running away. The book was called "Fallen Angels" and they were going to try to be ballet dancers, and end up on the streets. In a way, I'm impressed with myself that even in eighth grade I understood that was what was likely to happen, but still. Runaway ballet dancers with emo-angsting ending up on the streets. I still can't remember the girl's name, but I'm pretty sure the boy was named Christian. I LOVE the name Christian.
So, yeah. Happy Easter!!!

Date: 2010-04-05 02:42 am (UTC)But she was team average, looks-wise, and her name wasn't mine- it was an Irish name I saw in a book that I thought fit the AMC name mold, Oriana. The queenrider thing at Sable was comedy, since the Weyrwomen historically lasted fairly short times before a. quitting, b. quitting and getting killed, c. getting ganged up on by the crazy people, quitting and getting transferred.
A few years back, a bunch of us Sable expats started a Weyr (Affray, for anyone who cares) after the SECOND Sable flameout (someone tried to restart it who was crazier than the last bunch put together), really enjoyed writing our characters in the Lost Years and to the "present" and then kind of drifted off. I enjoyed that, a LOT. Maybe I should put that fanfic in my fic LJ, too. We had some FUN group writing projects.
I totally forgot Easter. I was doing my taxes and went to the fabric store, forgetting it was a major stores-closed holiday. Fail.
