Dear Remixer

Yes, a dear remixer letter, because I actually have a point! :)

I'm a huge fan of chaptered fics, and tend to post WIPs. So, just for your info:

Harry Potter: I don't write HP much any more, and although I keep holding out the slightest bit of hope, I don't think I'll ever really go back to it. I say this because there are two WIPs there. The two WIP fics in HP are "Accidentally In Love" and "Happiness Where I Can Find It." Accidentally In Love is HUGE, so I doubt you'd have any interest in touching it regardless, but if you do- or you just want to take a chapter from it or something- have at it. However, "Happiness Where I Can Find It" is only a Part 1, and will probably never get a part 2. Feel free to have at it if that's what you choose.

Battlestar Galactica: The only WIP piece here is "The Struggles Make You Stronger." Everything else is complete.

"Retribution" is my safe story because I'm turning that into a big bang, and my remixes are all clearly marked.

Also, while I have an AO3 listing (under the same name), it's far from complete. The only thing that can be found there that's not here is Breaking Dawn, which is an Atlas Shrugged fic from Yuletide.

Needless to say, Remix assignments are out. And this is the first year I'm feeling REALLY challenged :) (This is not a complaint.) Previously, I've gotten people that I'm extremely close to in taste- inksheddings, midnitemaraud_r, leiascully, and even bantha_fodder, since she wrote stuff that was super-easy to turn gen. (I don't count the bsg_remix in here, because I'm a mod and although we don't pick ourselves first, we do have control over who we get.) This year, I got someone who writes pairings I won't touch with a ten foot pole. I'm excited about that, because although it's daunting, it's a huge challenge. (Plus, it's probably a pretty good way to keep me from writing a fricking novel.)

Speaking of which, back to my BSG remix!! EEK!

How are submissions going, anyway? Does it look like posting will begin soonish, or are you still waiting on a lot of people?

I know! I'm so bad! But I knew we were going to post three a day, so.... ;) But I really need to get it done, because my lgbtfest fic is due at the beginning of May.

We're gonna start posting tomorrow, I think. We've got 23 of the remixes in, which gives us a week to panic, and of the outstanding ones, only two haven't asked for an extension. So we're on a pretty good track! (Other reasons I have to get this finished- so I can emergency pinch hit if needed!) I can't wait!

I am really glad I signed up for the big remix right now, My assignment is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for and I am really excited. This person leans more towards slash than I do but there is a good variety of fic so I think its going to be fun. I can't help but wonder what whoever got me is thinking right now though. I am laughing at the thought of some hardcore Kara/Lee or Jake/Heather fan being horrified right now. Although I do have some more gen stuff.

I am very proud of myself for getting my fic done as early as I did, of course maybe it just means I need more of a life :P.

Gen is always a good tactic for the remixes, and one I am most definitely going to have to employ. For mine, I'm not talking the difference between Kara/Lee and Kara/Sam. I mean, I'm not a Kara/Lee shipper, but I don't have horrible objections to it, except when they're married. But the writer I got... I forgot what one of the most popular Firefly pairings is, and it's one I can't even... no. So, Gen is GOOD. :)

I'm impressed how many people handed theirs in early. I wasn't surprised I needed an extension... I hope that this remix challenge will help me regain the ability to write SHORT. Sheesh. :)
