Good Omen or Sign of the Apocolypse?

I was just putzing around on IMDb.com, and found something that said YES! There ARE people who want to make Good Omens into a movie!!!

But who do they have slated for Crowley and Az? (because I'm too lazy to spell his name out?)

Johnny Depp and Robin Williams.

Is it just me, or does this seem like the most surreal and wrong casting job ever? (It's not getting funded as of this minute anyway. But still. Johnny Depp and Robin Williams????)

Remind me to make a WTF icon. I really need one.

Actually, my shipping prefences aside (because Robin Williams? So not sexy) I could kind of see that one. *hides*

Johnny as Crowley... think about him in Once Upon an Time in Mexico.

Robbie... well, he can do anything, and an angel with an undue interest in bibles who's as gay as a treeful of monkies on nitrous oxide certainly falls into the category of anything.

Actually, edward Norton is my current Favourite Actor Ever. (After Kingdom of Heaven, which he ruled -- without getting credit)

Edward Norton as Aziraphale would make me so, so happy. As long as he could do the accent. (I didn't realize he was in Kingdom of Heaven. Or I did... shoot. Who did he play again?)

But yeah, actually, I'm having more problems with Johnny Depp as Crowley than Robin Williams. (Except Robin Williams is NOT British.)

I would actually like to see Paul Bettany as Zira. He's very popular in the fandom for it right now. As for Crowley? Much as I hate to agree with the Depp thing, it would almost have to be him or and unknown at this point.

Unknown, then, please. But Bettany WORKS. Much, much better than Robin Williams even, because as someone pointed out over on MRFH, if you have Robin Williams you have to leave room for improv and mugging and all that, which doesn't quite fit. But Bettany... YES.

in HP fandom that cannot stand Good Omens. I truly hoped that Gaiman would have kept Pratchett's twee sentence structure (and footnotes) to a minimum. *sigh*

I think that Depp could be the perfect Crowley, but -- and it is a big but -- the fandom would die a horrible death if he is. There is already bad Corpse Bride fic, just based on the preview. Anything he's in immediately attracts hordes of screaming fangirls, and while I don't consider myself a huge part of the GO fandom, I still like the way it's so small and connected.
