Laura Question

Okay, here's the question. Laura is going through the files and has found that one of the millions of people that had been scanned to make the imprints is Zac Adama. Obviously, I'm going to imprint Zac on one of the Actives.

Would Laura consult Bill if he wanted this done? Or would she just go ahead and imprint Zac? "Surprise, honey, I resurrected your son!" :)

Wow, that's a toughie. I think at times of her life (especially pre-New Caprica) she would definitely consult first. Later, though, I could go either way, perhaps leaning slightly more towards the "surprise!" route.

Also, I think Zak is spelled with a k instead of a c.

This is post-mutiny. (She definitely has not consulted about a few other things she has done ;) ) I'm also thinking of getting around it without Laura doing it at all. Hmmm.

I'm actually not sure Laura would do that at all, she is very much driven by logic and I don't see her making a decision based on what Bill wants. Laura seem to have a very set idea of death and what it means because of her religious beliefs I think what you saying contradicts that I think she would find the idea ghoulish at best. However if Zac was somehow necessary to humanity she would do it in a heartbeat. I think Bill would activate his son without hesitation, he's driven by emotion and he probably wouldn't stop to think of the consequences. I can see him pushing Laura to do it or even going around her to get his son back.

I pretty much agree with this. I think probably if you wanted this done, you're going to have to have someone else discover it. (Not that I have any clue what "it" is. *g*)

(This is not a huge dealbreaker- the "how" isn't nearly as important as the fact it happens. And Topher is on a power trip.)

LOL. Nope, no Victor!Topher. I don't think it would be as funny on the page as it was on the screen, anyway :)

Yeah. On reflection, Topher doing it on his own initiative (or under Adelle's orders, which is more likely) actually serves my purposes better anyway :) And Topher's God complex really comes in handy!

I agree, I don't think she'd do it either. Plus, if she knew the possibility existed, I don't think she'd tell Bill about it - she does have a history of wanting to spare him difficult decisions (eg, kidnapping Hera).

This all makes sense. Fortunately, the fact that Zak comes back is the only important part- Laura doing it isn't the important part. And I think I've worked around it now :)

OMG! I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT!!!!! BILL IS DOING WHAT HIS OWN FATHER TRIED TO DO!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!! I really, really wish there was a way I could tie that in!!!!

Hmmm. That's a good point. That might be why I can't decide which is more in character for her- because neither option seems really right.

It doesn't much matter if Laura does it for the plot. I just want it done- that Zak comes back in this way. It could be Laura ordering it, Bill ordering it, or Topher just doing it on his own. How it comes about isn't as important as the fact it does.
