I am hitting that point where I will be so glad to be done with Agency. (OMG, Toby's up already?) I'm at 53K words, and I'm guessing it will go to somewhere between 60-65. That's half the size I wrote last year, which is kind of nice. But since they still haven't posted the reveal list of authors that they kept saying, I wanted to email my author on my own. I mean, they need time, too, right? Even if art doesn't take that long (I have no idea how long the good stuff takes), it might take time to fit it in. Especially right now. I have no idea if my artist is a student, but if she is, that could play havoc. So yeah, I figured the earlier she gets it, the better, right? So I outlined what's left down to each scene and sent it.
I have 15 scenes to go. Yikes.
Well, not yikes, I guess. That's about a scene a day, right? Maybe a little more, because I need time for the beta. (My mom comes August 31. I'm anticipating I won't write much when she's here.) But with the writing, the betaing, and I really want to try to get the art done for
kappamaki33's second big bang... Yikes. :)
One thing I have noticed- I really like Agency. I'm happy with how it's coming out. I do notice I don't like it quite as much as The Space Between Us. TSBU is without a doubt my favorite long fic I've written. This is one of those things that you know will happen- hell, it happens with short fic all the time. I still think my best short fic is The Touch of Your Grace, and I wrote that a year and a half ago. I think I'm just noticing this one more because of the length of the fics.
Hope everyone else is coming along! I suppose I'd better get back to writing instead of babbling. 15 more scenes.... almost there!

Date: 2010-08-19 05:58 pm (UTC)Yes, I'm having the same feeling of picking favorites, too, exacerbated by working on two long fics at the same time. I like "Sanctuary" a lot--it's interesting, messy, and pushing me to write things I normally wouldn't. That said, "Picture Perfect" is still my favorite. I haven't done anything exactly like it before, either, but it feels like I was "meant" to write it.
Best of luck on the sprint (or crawl, depending on how it's going) to the finish with Agency!

Date: 2010-08-19 07:21 pm (UTC)I agree with you about Sanctuary and Picture Perfect. Don't remotely get me wrong- I love Sanctuary, and I've really, really, really been enjoying reading it. But Picture Perfect is... different. You used the word "special" once, and that's really what it is. And it's not even that Picture Perfect is the better story, although it stands alone outside its canon better than Sanctuary does, not that that means anything. It just hits a chord better with me, and I can really tell it does with you, too.
Of course, since we share a brain half the time, I might not be the best judge :)
Oh- and when I send you Sanctuary, I think I figured out something for that scene you're stuck on! It's a suggestion, anyway, and might tie some threads together :)
