Aug. 26th, 2010 08:03 amWow, it is a GORGEOUS morning out! Not a cloud in the sky, and not too hot. We are so playing outside today. (Just not in our own yard, as hubby needs to mow.) And I pulled 13 ripe tomatoes out of the garden yesterday. I foresee tomato-mozzarella salad.
bsg_bigbang gave an extension!!! September 20! Whoohoo! On the one hand, I still am at the point where I just want to finish this fic. I want it DONE. But on the other hand, it makes beta turn around easier, and it means I can take my time on the details. Which is good, because I know there are some small scenes I need to put in and some rewrites and all that. Plus, my mom comes in a few days and leaves on September 6, and I really don't know how much I'll get accomplished when she's here. PLUS, that gives
kappamaki33 more time to finish both of her fics and me time to finish the art for her second one. I'm still a little nervous about starting this second picture and posting them at all, because my art isn't horrid but it's not like some of the people's I've seen where my mouth drops open at their talent, but oh well.
However, speaking of big bangs, Narcho... a word? I know you've got someone else in your body right now. That someone else is NOT Jayne Cobb. Just because this is a Joss Whedon invention in space does not mean we pick a Joss Whedon character from space and put him in your body. That's NOT how this works! Okay, okay, yeah, it IS really funny, but the problem is this scene is NOT supposed to be funny, okay? If you MUST be Jayne, do it subtly, like Racetrack. (Don't think I don't know you're not being Zoe over there.)
Futurama is on tonight, and it sounds like a good one. And Katee Sackhoff is voicing. I was going to watch anyway, but after reading the episode synopsis, I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't been turning cartwheels over the new episodes, but they've been good enough to watch. We've also been working slowly through Farscape. We're still in Season 1, but I can tell you that hubby's stopped mocking it :) Aeryn Sun is still my absolute favorite and the incredibly best part of the show and I'm not sure that's EVER going to change (as long as she doesn't pull an Adama :P ), but D'Argo and Rigel are fast growing on me. I'm still lukewarm on Zhaan and we just added Chiana, whose mannerisms annoy me, but hopefully they'll both grow on me even more. But D'Argo has the whole forbidden love plotline (um, yeah, major kink for me) and Rigel is just that great mix of repulsive and can be noble... ::considers a crossover where Tom Zarek and Rigel meet.::
One thing that does make me sad is it looks like BSG has been removed from
crack_van's regular fandom list. :P Oh well.
On a more cheerful note, one of the
twelvecolonies challenges involved making picspams with a brain twin. The idea is you both do a picspam on the same topic without comparing and then post them.
whatever_lj and I did Battlestar Galactica takes the Bechdel Test. Hers is here and mine is here. What I think is really fascinating is that there were a couple of times we picked the same scene and we had different opinions on whether it passed or failed. We also managed to pick some very different scenes as well, sometimes even in the same episode. This was a really, really fun challenge, and I think it's one of the best graphics challenges that
twelvecolonies has had.
This concludes this bout of utter and complete geekiness for the day. Now to get some boys up and start thinking about playing outside!

Date: 2010-08-26 02:04 pm (UTC)How can you be Jayne and not be funny. I mean I assume your not giving Narcho a knit cap, but still. Good luck with the oxymoronic 'subtle Jayne' invades Narcho's body experience. And may you find the proper balance of Moore/Wheadon on the brain. Funny or not.

Date: 2010-08-26 07:39 pm (UTC)It doesn't have to be Jayne being subtle in Narcho's body- it just has to be subtle that it's Jayne. Actually, making him Jayne sort of gives me a personality to play with and rules to follow, but I also don't want it to be a distraction that it's Jayne here. Big emotional scene here :P
But the knit cap would be funny :)
