An Old Rec
Oct. 18th, 2005 03:53 pmMost of my f-list has seen this rec before, but a few of you haven't. Especially since there are a few of you who read my LJ for the real life stuff or something like that :)
However, if you want a really, really good laugh, you really must check out The Pandora Box by
nimori. Seriously. Even if you NEVER read fanfic, this is one you need to see, because it's not really a story, it's just FUNNY.
Okay, okay. You really just need to read the first half to two-thirds of it. Why? It's about Severus Snape discovering fanfiction. But in order to do that, Severus Snape must discover the web.
Seriously. This is priceless. There is NOTHING funnier than a perfectly in-character Snape trying to turn on a computer. Except maybe watching Snape actually become fluent in the world of fanfiction and email.
I'd post this link to the Mutant message boards, but unfortunately, it's NC-17. Don't worry at all if that's not your cup of tea. By the time you get to the NC-17 parts (it's Harry/Snape, which is a pairing that really, really turns my stomach anyway), the really funny stuff is over. To me, the real highlights are the first 5 parts of the fic. There's a bit amusing in part 6, but then it just kind of fizzles for me- coincidentally, when Harry comes into the action. Granted, it doesn't have a very satisfying ending if you stop there, but hey- neither did the fic if you read it to the end, anyway. I think the author was just having a blast with Snape and the web.
I don't care if you hate slash, because the really funny parts stop before the slash starts. Ditto Snape/Harry. Heck, ditto fanfic. This one is truly worth reading (at least through the fifth part), and one of the wittiest finds I've seen on the internet. (At least in this fandom!)
