Happy New Year!
Jan. 1st, 2006 10:53 amHappy New Year to one and all!!!!! Hope everyone has a great one!
shackinup_sesa (look! I finally realized it doesn't have a g in it!) names have been announced. You know what sucks about that? I was hoping to trim down or prioritize the list of fics that I want to read by the names. Um, Liss? THEY'RE ALL AUTHORS YOU LIKE. So yeah. Big help. It's gonna take me forever to get through them all.
My fic was Walls, which, as I've said, I would have liked to have done more with. I noticed a couple people commented on the fact there was more of a story there, and they would have liked to have read it. Me too. I had this elaborate idea where the deaths of Lucas and Hope kept playing in, and the final sex scene was supposed to take place 2 years later. Then there was supposed to be more after it, where Sirius kept shifting the dynamic to where it was much more gentle and on an obviously equal footing. But I simply ran out of time and had to change the plot. Oh well. I reread it and (aside from some continuity errors) I'm more comfortable with it now. I do think it's funny that I was given a VERY similar assignment to what I asked for myself. Karma? Revenge?
musesfool saying "if you're going to ask for something that hard, you write it yourself?" (Actually, realistically it IS a hard assignment, and if someone is asking for a D/s relationship, you can bet they probably have ideas on how it would go in their head. Therefore, it makes sense to hand them a similar assignment if you've got it, because they probably DO have an idea how to approach it. Plus, you know they like the dynamic.)
cruisedirector wrote my gift fic, and while I didn't guess it was her, what is funny is there was a voice in my head saying that the person wrote Snupin. I'll try to fill in the link later, but right now I'm speed typing and hoping I can get this entry done before Toby wakes up. But if you haven't read it, please go read it because it's wonderful. It's complex and tricky and psychological, and I really love that aspect of it. It's also set during OotP, which pleased me to no end, because that's the era I think this dynamic REALLY works for. One of the reasons I had trouble with Walls was that I ended up confining it to MWPP. My original plan was to stretch it to pre-Azkaban, but thanks to time, that got scratched. Ah well.
I also have my fic still for Tarie's Illustrated Ficcish Swap. I hope it gets done today, but I'm not sure it will. I like the fic, it's just a matter of TIME. And today I can NOT put Toby in his swing- he needs to be up most of the day, since we were up until 3 or 4 with him last night, as he decided that was a good time to play. If he was older, tough, go to bed kiddo. But you can't tell a 1 month infant to go to bed. (Well, you can. But he won't listen.) On the bright side, we did read the book "When Pigasso Met Mootisse." Someone on the Mutant board recommended it, and it was a riot. (My husband is a huge fan of both Picasso and Matisse. I like Picasso okay, but I've always felt Matisse was a bit of a hack.)
Also, for anyone who's interested in non-fannish reviews of Goblet of Fire, go check out the additional reviews on MRFH. Both Kyle and Justin's reviews have been posted, and they make some really good points. (Kyle's is interesting because he never read the books. Justin's is great because he described my problems with the editing perfectly.)
Anyway, enough babble, more writing (or feeding, as the case is likely to be soon!)

Date: 2006-01-01 05:59 pm (UTC)It's more that quite a few folks specified "No D/s" in their requests, or "no heavy kink" etc. so since you requested it, I figured you wouldn't be squicked writing it.
We're really a rather vanilla bunch, all told, the Remus/Sirius end of fandom. *g*
