This came to me on the plane on my way home, so I wrote it just because. Drabble. Enjoy. :P

"I wouldn't trust him," Phineas advised, arms crossed.

"I believe I can trust Severus," Dumbledore said, leaning back and sucking on a lemon drop as he fixed the portrait with a calm gaze.

"You would," Phineas was close to pouting. "You believe everyone can change. You're a fool, Albus, and you always have been. I tell you, it will lead to the ruin of Hogwarts. If I was still Headmaster, I'd have turned him in and never looked back. You and your second chances."

"It should be of small matter to you," Dumbledore retorted, eyes twinkling. "After all, you're dead."

I wonder if one of Dumbledore's greatest weaknesses is trust without question. Dumbledore doesn't appear to take advice well - it seems like he feels he doesn't need it. So he's unwilling to listen to others who may be more knowledgeable than him on a subject. I'm not a fan of Dumbledore because of that impression.

Nice drabble - interesting Phineas.

But I don't think he does give trust without question. I think his trust is given on an informed basis, weighing the risks and such. To him, whatever positive outcome might come of his choice outweighs the risks. I think he's probably been very informed, but hasn't been willing to divulge that information.
