Hey guys-

Guess what? Except for snorkackcatcher, a_t_rain, poolman, rinelk, and theregoesyamum, most of the rest of us have mental problems! My f-list is insane! Insane, I tell you! Any of you all shrinks?

I already reported it, just because it's a flame war begging to happen and all that. But Toby just finished an hour long crying spree because the poor little guy was majorly congested (I've never been so glad to see spit-up in my life), and I'm feeling bitchy.

And curses on Girl Scouts. Must they come selling me cookies? Especially when they're the two girls that live next door? Not only are they nice girls (REALLY nice girls), they're Harry Potter fanatics to boot. And I used to be a Girl Scout.

Unfortunately, Girl Scout cookies have calories. :P Stupid cookies.

Yeah. I do understand that people believe homosexuality is wrong. As long as they just believe that and leave people alone, hey, I'll accept that. And I am TOTALLY fine with people who believe Lupin is straight. (Especially since one of those people is JKR.) But to say people have "mental problems" for thinking he's gay.... ::shakes head::

What bothers me is someone thinking there's no way a character could possibly be gay just because he/she is anti-gay. That would be a lot like standing in front of a gay bar and telling the first person who came out -- no pun intended -- "I don't like gay people, so you're not gay." So, wait a minute -- who's supposed to have the mental problems?

Yeah, I think she did. Howard was rather disappointed, until he was reminded that it wasn't like he had a chance with her anyway :) (Although I've always been proud she was one of his top drool fixations. She IS gorgeous, but not stereotypically, and she comes off at least as VERY intelligent.)

Hmmm...not sure how I feel about this whole Jodie-Foster-being-gay thing. On the one hand, she is not only high on the list, she IS the list of actresses who come to mind when I think of hot. Not saying there aren't any others who should qualify, but once I start thinking about Jodie Foster I tend to lose sight of making lists. So I feel Howard's pain.

On the other hand, I have the impression that a sudden conversion to bisexuality when exposed to my presence is no more far-fetched than wanting me in the first place, and more fun. So I think I'd make the same argument you did to Howard, but take it the other direction. Rather than emphasizing the impossibility of the dream, I'm more inclined to emphasize the improved goodness of the (impossible) dream.

I suspect this is part of the reason I tend to be such a happy guy.

The good news with the cookies is that, at least for the clearly superior caramel de-lites (or samoas, or whatever they're calling them this year), a box seems to include fewer cookies each year. I sometimes wonder, once they've taken that trend to the logical extreme of a single cookie, whether they'll begin increasing the size of the box each year in order to keep the cookie-to-space ratio on its downward trend. :-)

I should. What I should really do is find a senior citizen's center or something (where the people are still active) and buy cookies for them. What I used to do any time I got caught in the mall was I gave the girls the money and said the next time a family with kids came by to buy cookies, they got a box from me. That's harder to do when they're at the door.

Of course, I've already opened the box of said cookies :) but still.
