I didn't watch the Oscars. :P Which is okay, because I no longer have a computer in front of the TV, and the Oscars aren't near as much fun when I can't chat with [livejournal.com profile] pfrsue and we can't mock the dresses and drool over the men. Too bad about Best Picture, but I'm probably the only person on my flist not jumping for joy about the Best Supporting Actor. I really wanted Jake Gyllenhaal. No. I really thought Jake deserved the nomination for lead, for Jarhead. But, on the other hand, Jake is much younger and has time to improve and go for it again.

I know it wasn't intentional, but Toby put his arm around my neck for the first time today. I almost melted with the cuteness :)

Been watching Firefly. We just watched Jaynestown last night. I swear, I have not laughed that hard at a TV show or a movie in... I think the last time I laughed that hysterically was the instruction scene in Life Is Beautiful. ("I ate the last lollipop. It was strawberry.") The faces on everyone when they started singing the song about Jayne was... I've seen the "revered as a God" concept done millions of times, but this was by far the best.

IF I was going to write Firefly fic, I don't think Mal would be paired, for all that he is quite hot. I think my TTP (Two true pairs- HA!) would be Zoe/Wash and Inara/Kaylee, because I have a thing for married couples and the second just has so much potential. But my OTP would definitely be Kaylee/strawberry. And I am so making strawberry spinach salad today. And searching out Firefly icons, because yes, Kaylee is my idol. (Seriously. Just because my engines are diesel and hers are fuel cells doesn't mean I can't want to be like her.)

And I should go work out before Toby wakes up. Maybe it will help put my Remix into perspective, given that it really got away from me. :P

Well, I think the true Firefly OTP is Mal/Serenity. *g* But the others are fun too.

And Jaynestown? Never stops being funny.

I'd definitely agree with that so far. But if I was going to write, Kaylee/Inara is just an interesting idea. Friends with benefits both in love with someone else. It makes me wonder if I could write it well, because I am an incredibly jealous person.

Oh, I think the text definitely supports Kaylee/Inara and it'd be better for both of them than either Kaylee/Simon or Mal/Inara. Of course, I tend to not believe the latter two are actually based on real love, so...

*is a Mal/Kaylee shipper*

i watched it! Which caused me to stay awake until 5:30 am, and after so much adrenaline discharge and various frustrations, to be able to sleep only for two hours...

Me too, dammit! I'm quite fond of his way of acting, which isn't all about showing off evident acting capacities, but about being the character. But yeah, he's young, and seems to make clever choices with his roles, so it's likely that we'll get much more of him in the following years. And as for BBM, whatever it won or didn't, it will still be a movie that will be remembered, so... I'm finding I'm not as upset as I thought I'd be!

And I still didn't see Jarhead, and it seems I'll have to wait for the DVD release, as they don't show it anymore in the area :(

I'm impressed you made it through!

I definitely like Jake Gyllenhaal- as long as he's not trying to be Tobey Maguire. The Day After Tomorrow was simply horrible, and Jake's performance in it wasn't exactly stellar. But I fell in love with his acting in October Sky, one of my all-time favorite movies EVER.

I need to rewatch it once we're done the series. I really enjoyed the movie- enough that it made me REALLY want to see the series, and I suspect I'll like it several times better when I watch it again, now that I know more of the story!

I'm trying to resist! I really need to write something I can get paid for. (And to finish Accidentally In Love.)

And yeah, baby cuteness makes my day :)

So far I'm not to a point where Mal/River would do anything for me. Simon/Kaylee is darling, but it's one I think I enjoy watching more than I would reading. (It doesn't hurt that Simon is really, really goodlooking. So is Kaylee, for that matter.) The thing I could see being dangerous about Firefly fanfic is it lends itself SO well to action/adventure, which I like. A lot.
