JKR posted her rant about how girls shouldn't be so focused on being skinny, and all I can say is "go, JKR!" Yeah, I have some issues with how she writes girls in love in HBP, but I don't care. I couldn't agree more with her skinny rant, and I actually don't think she makes fun of her fat characters. She makes fun of her gluttons. She has other characters that are overweight (Molly, Sprout, Neville, Pomfrey (I think), heck- even Vernon) and their weight is never a subject of humor.
That said, I want to see fic (or canon) where the twins learned their beating skills from Molly.
Other stuff:
I've been quiet recently, because there's been nothing much to say. I've been a bit down and fighting it because it's weather-related, I think, and just general grumpiness. Still lonely, but not much I can do about that in the short term :P Toby is now rolling over like crazy, but once he gets on his tummy he can't roll back over onto his back. Napping has been a nightmare recently- I can only let a 4 month old cry for so long, and he's got one hell of a will.
poolman, I have pictures for you as soon as I can swipe the card reader from Duckie, or as soon as he sends me the pics. The outfit now fits, and it looks adorable on him!
Writing is going slowly. I really need to finish this chapter of AIL. I'd post the shorter chapter, because I have 13 pages written, but it's right in the middle of some major action. Plus, I'm having a hard time with Sirius's scenes this time around. He's gonna be in SO much trouble... hehehe. Poor Sirius. It's turning out he's a pretty crappy Auror in some ways.
And I still have to finish my Cool Hand Luke review.
Oops. Someone's awake. And on his tummy, so I'd better go rescue him.

Date: 2006-04-06 01:33 pm (UTC)And let's face it- there ARE people like the Dursleys out there. So what's the big deal?

Maybe we can schedule a visit after Easter?

Date: 2006-04-06 01:36 pm (UTC)I think it depends if they spend more time on their backs or their tummies. For some reason, Toby HATES being on his tummy. He's happy there for about 5 minutes, and then he gets super frustrated. (He also inevitably spits up.) So we have frequent, short bursts of tummy time. I let him get somewhat frustrated because how else will he learn?, but when he gets mad, he just puts his head down and cries, and that's kind of useless. But he's completely happy on his back. I think it's more he just hasn't figured out how to turn himself over from his front to back, because he doesn't spend enough time there.
After Easter sounds great- I'd really like to see you again! I know the last weekend in April we're busy, but other than that, no real plans on the calender yet.
