Tired and Grumpy
Apr. 28th, 2006 08:03 amThanks to everyone who responded to my post the other day about letting babies cry themselves to sleep! I plan on responding to comments later, but I just wanted to be sure I said thank you.
Toby woke up last night at 11:30 and by 1:00, it was clear he just wanted to be held. So we said, "screw it" and let him cry. At 4 AM, Howard finally said, "can you please just give him a bottle and see if that works?" It did- although he only took 2.5 ounces (I suspect he was more thirsty than hungry). It also probably totally undid the 2 and a half hours of crying that preceded it. Damn. Damn damn damn damn damn.
Monday night, buddy, we start sleep training. We get up nice and early, and make sure the nap ends early , so I'm sure he has all his feedings for the day. Then I'm going to put him in his crib awake, and let him cry it out then (I hope). I can deal with it from 8 to 11 better than I can deal with it from 1 to 4. I'd start it tonight, but we do have company this weekend, and Sunday night his grandparents will be here. But this simply cannot go on, and the fact he quiets down immediately when someone picks him up....
Argh.
I haven't been following the Death Eater/racism wank, and frankly, I don't care. I always thought that particular argument was bullshit. Or maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about with the wank. :P Likely.
I have two more scenes to add to Accidentally In Love 11, and then I will be sending it to the betas. Look for it early next week- it won't go up this weekend, unfortunately. At least, not before Sunday.
I should shower. And then Mr. Grump is going to get up by 9:00, because just because you stay up all night doesn't mean you're going to sleep all day.
ETA: DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At some point last night, there was a legitimate problem, and I never noticed because I didn't pick him up and thought it was sweat when I fed him. When I got him up, his back and the sheet were wet- his diaper leaked.
I don't know whether to be relieved or to bang my head against the wall.

It's okay, it's okay, you're working things out. *huggles*

It's okay! We've all been there. You'll get it figured out. (I did use the Ferber method with Theresa and it worked wonderfully, though she was a little older than Toby. But it comforted me, knowing that after a certain amount of time I could go in and comfort her for even a moment, and 2 weeks later it was over and she slept great. But yes, all the methods work eventually, it's just soooo hard to stick to them.)
Good luck!

Clearly he's in training to be a teenager. :D

Every mother goes through this, many, many times. Really, it's okay. Be relieved! We need your brain intact to get on with AIL, okay? NO banging heads allowed.
*hugs*
