Two quick recs:

The Water Is Wide by [livejournal.com profile] moondagny. R/S, Remus post-1981, and very, very, very well written. A great, strong Remus, and I think everyone reading this would like it, because I think pretty much all of you are driven nuts by a whiny emo Remus.

and

Prey by [livejournal.com profile] teawithvoldy. Creey, but so well drawn. Gen, Fenrir and young Remus, and really rather heartbreaking.

And because I don't feel good and am feeling a bit bitchy, the question.

What are people looking for when they ask for "in character" Snape/Harry on FAP? Seriously? Realistically, or totally in character, the thought would never, EVER cross either one of their minds. Like I said, I'm feeling bitchy. I feel that way about a lot of other ships, too. Not necessarily non-canon ones, mind you. Just ones where the participants give every evidence of despising each other.

Anyway. :P I think I have a small fever and am coming down with something, and hubby's not due home until 7:30. We are so ordering out tonight. :P And Toby is trying to help me type. Thanks, sweetie, but it's easier if you don't help. On the bright side, I wrote a HAPPY scene for AIL today. Yay!

Sorry you're feeling feverish and bitchy. *hugs*

I have no idea, but it cracks me up to see that. Though, to be perfectly honest, I can't imagine in character Snape/Anyone, so I do have a bit of mental block in that area.

Also, sorry it's taking me so long, but I will get back to you about your story tonight. Things are just a tiny bit crazy (I'm leaving in a week? how did that happen?), but I started reading it at lunch today and was very disgruntled when I had to tear myself away to go back to work.

Yeah, I can't really do Snape/Anyone either (even Snape/right hand is a stretch for me), so that IS certainly part of it. Snape hates EVERYONE.

And no problem about the story- I totally understand the craziness!!!! :) If it gives you any idea of how not-quickly I'm reading these days, I'm STILL on Clash of Kings. (I have four chapters left.) It's driving me nuts, because it's not like it's a slow or bad book- quite the opposite. But just having the time (and focus) to read these days.... yeah. :P

Definitely understand crazy :)

I suppose if I was defence counsel for this I'd say something like: Snape is still snarky and bitter not Mr Darcy II, Harry is still headstrong and all-action not drippy, and a suitable length of time goes by to allow them to first get over their hate for each other and then bond (say about 50 chapters). Oh, and the author makes some serious effort to explain away why Harry has shown every sign of being straight so far.

Okay, I'd lose the case because the pairing is just plain silly, but there you go. :)

(((((Lissa))))) I hope you feel better soon. Yay for AIL! I am so impressed (and delighted) that you're continuing with it. Doesn't matter how long it takes, but if it'd been anyone except you I would have expected it to go into permanent languishment after Toby arrived.

Please to be having a photo taken of him helping you type; that is the cutest thing ever!!

Yeah, it's the 50 chapters bit ;)

I can even get around Harry showing all evidence of being straight, as long as the writer doesn't turn him into a sudden complete stereotype. I mean, I ship Harry/Ginny, but if I was wanted to do something else, I'd be all over Harry/Ron, because I like friend/friend ships. Harry's young enough still that it could be done no problem, especially if you went bi. But that's easily the smallest of the problems.....

Thanks! I'll have to see if I can get Howard to take a picture of that sometime- it is cute :)

And thanks on the icon, although I totally cannot claim credit. It's from [livejournal.com profile] nassima, and you should go check out her LJ because she has the bigger pictures. In fact, she's done a lot of Brokeback Mountain art, too. (And some pretty awesome R/S) She's AMAZING. Go now! :)

(Also a [livejournal.com profile] nassima icon, from a pic she drew for me of Harry and Sirius. :) )
