You've probably figured this out by now, but I SUCK at this anonymous thing. But now I can talk, because [livejournal.com profile] reversathon authors have been revealed. YAY!!!!

I was the sicko in much need of counseling that wrote Let the Water Hold You Down. Peter-gen (with assorted background pairings), AU, and not the most cheerful of pieces (PG-13 to R for violence). But it's probably one of the best things I ever wrote. I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] krabapple, apparently, who requested a study of the First War, with James/Lily, Remus/Sirius, Frank/Alice, etc. If she hadn't included the line about AU, I think I would have cried, or possibly asked for a different assignment, because what she asked for was Accidentally In Love. Heh. But AU I went, and thanks to [livejournal.com profile] gehayi, [livejournal.com profile] topaz_eyes, and most especially [livejournal.com profile] snorkackcatcher for letting me bounce ideas off you guys, and in the last case the excellent beta job.

[livejournal.com profile] soleta wrote Welsh Greens for me, and you know you want to read it because here's the summary: Harry, Ron, and Hermione pull a fast one on Tonks and she finds herself in Romania, taking up a life of crime. Fortunately, she has Charlie Weasley to help. It's as cool as it sounds and very well written, and PG-13 at the most. Definitely a fun fic, and now I have a new author I need to read.

I've been listing gen fics and R/S fics (plus a few others), but I haven't put together an official rec list yet. I mean, everything I've read has been good, but the stuff that stands out just a little bit more, y'know? (Although major thumbs up to [livejournal.com profile] midnitemaraud_r for her fic, cause it was AWESOME. And same with Cooking With Love, which is by someone I've never heard of but who did a kick-ass job.) Anyway, I'm likely to do a DVD commentary of Let the Water Hold You Down, because there is SO much I want to say about it. (I am really, really, really, really, REALLY happy with this fic.) But I should also go eat dinner.

Mmmm. Dinner.

Eeep!

I would not have made you want to cry! And I am glad I added that AU part, because not only did it help avoid tears, but it also netted a glorious, amazing fic and I just wanted to say again just how wonderful it is and how much I love it.

I am really, really, really, really, REALLY happy with this fic.

Me, too!! Me, too!! :)

Hullo Miss Sis,
I was wondering if you ever got around to reading my fic, Fading Into Grey. I would love to get rec'd on your site because you have loads of readers and I'm looking for more. I've had some great reviews everywhere I've posted it, and your DTF was what gave me the inspiration to write it. Anyway, hope things are well with you and Toby and I would be honored if you read it. Thanks.

Cheers. I've finally got around to making a start on reading AIL (only two chapters in so far -- I hadn't realised how long they were!) and finding it rather sweet. I like the way you actually have Remus and Sirius agonising over coming out (a nice change for a slash fic) and I wish I'd seen AIL before LTWHYD now, because I hadn't realised that Peter said the 'hey, we're eveil, want our leaflet' line in that. :) Definitely helps to have read DTF and Mentors first though, I think, and if I'm being honest there were some things that sounded 'off' from a Britpicking POV. But obviously I want to see how it carries on now. :D

Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Writing Peter is always a bit of a crapshoot, but the way the request was phrased, I thought the requester might be okay with it.

The funniest thing was I remember back during [livejournal.com profile] remixredux, I was thinking about fics I'd love to remix, and your Mischief Managed was at the top of my list, because I would have loved to have attempted that from Peter's point of view. ([livejournal.com profile] musesfool told me it was your safe story, and even if it wasn't I wouldn't have gotten it because she would have kept it for herself, but still.)

SO glad you enjoyed it! :)

I know this sounds cliched, but I have it marked to read it!!!! I'm SO sorry I haven't yet, because I really, really, really want to. (I have to admit, longer fics have not been getting read as much.) Thank you for the reminder, because it is one I'm dying to read (along with [livejournal.com profile] nyxfixx's Effigy and several [livejournal.com profile] reversathon fics that were longer, and [livejournal.com profile] snorkackcatcher's Tonks' adventure).

Yeah, I'm a bit wordy :) And I'm flattered- I haven't had a chance to start NTLJ yet! ::looks sheepish:: And yeah, I've been writing AIL for quite some time, and man- when I look back on the first chapters (and even further- please ignore the fact that graduation isn't British!) I really cringe. Because I write such freaking long fics, I wasn't using a beta. I think I finally broke down around chapter 10, because chapter 9 was a little weaker than I would have liked. And I liked the leaflet line :) (Along with a few characterizations that carried over, like Alice and Sirius being very close, and Peter being into Divination and working for Bertie Botts.)

What's really going to make me cringe though is when you get to the sex scene. (There's only one graphic one.) I just have this theory that a guy is going to laugh his ass off at it. :)

That was your fic in the reversathon? I should have known when I got so wrapped up in it. I've left comments a whole two times and both are on your work. Ok, I'll stop gushing now *slinks away*

Oh, long is fine -- I note that Draco Veritas averages about 30,000 words a chapter, many of which are Cassie Claire's. :D It's just longer than I was expecting. And I can't complain about length of time writing -- NTLJ has been going even longer than AIL (currently about 225K words, probably end up around 260K -- OotP length, when I was thinking more PS/SS length when I started, if that).

I had read a bit further and got as far as the graduation scene, and it did make me wince (probably one of my Top 10 Pet Peeves in fanfic, I'm afraid). Haven't seen the R/S sex scene yet, but while a gay man might laugh at it, I probably won't be able to tell whether it makes sense or not. :)

Peter is a bit of a crapshoot, and like I said in my original feedback I wasn't sure how I'd feel at first, but that quickly disappeared, because the fic is genius. :) As it turned out, I was totally okay with it. :)

That's so funny about Mischief Managed! This fic might have fufilled that urge for you, but if you ever want to you're welcome to have a go at it. We'll have a pact -- I can work on the sequel and you can do the remix. :)

and even if it wasn't I wouldn't have gotten it because she would have kept it for herself, but still

Hee!

(Oh, and I'm going to friend you, if that's okay with you. No pressure to reciprocate; I'd just like to have you on my list. :))

Yeah, it's amazing how few Americans (myself obviously included!) realize Brits don't graduate from high school. I mean, it never even occurred to me to ask on that one. I can definitely understand why it's a pet peeve for so many Brits, and yet, I can understand why so many Americans do it! But mea culpa on that. Heh.

As for the sex scene, it's not a matter of gay vs. straight, but male vs. female. I'm a woman writing for a predominately female audience, and while I skipped them staring passionately into each others' eyes and declaring their love for each other with every breath, I still sometimes wonder if a guy would read that scene and snort and say, "whoa, someone's been reading her romance novels" (which, amusingly, I don't. But still.) I tend to give men more credit for respecting sex than a lot of women in fandom do (well, certain men), but sex scenes are still definitely not my strongest point :P (There's more than one reason I rarely write PWP.) I think that writing the opposite gender can be hard at times, especially for women writing men. (For some reason, it shows up more to me.) :P

Sounds good, actually. How much I'll get around to is anyone's guess, but I would actually love to try. (I'm having fun with Peter, and I don't get to write his POV in Accidentally In Love at all.) And the reversathon fic screams sequel, but I didn't have any plans for writing it, so go for it if you want! :)

Heh- I was actually going to do the same! :)

You're right. You suck at the anonymous thing. I recognised the 'they call themselves Death Eaters. They might as well say, 'hi, we're evil. Would you like a leaflet on our programme?' line from AIL straight away hehe, although I think it's actually Peter that says is in AIL.

I must admit, I have to look at you in iration and respect, not without a little fear in the mix, at how you can write something so powerful.

I loved all those excuses made. You wrote his denial extremely well. In fact, you wrote all of Peter extremely well- you made him whole.

Completely blew me away.

It doesn't sound cliche at all because it's completely the truth. Same goes for me as well, once I started writing I had to cut back on alot of the reading I did for the fact that it influenced me too much. I absolutely love AIL, but reading it after I'm so deep into my own story, sometimes little things the characters do or quirks they have seem out of place to me. One major quirk being Sirius doesn't like boys in my story, even though you've written AIL so that all other non-gay-wizard-sex stories seem just wrong compared! Same goes for other fics tho, the influencing me I mean. But, that doesn't mean I'm not anxiously awaiting the next installment of AIL!

=op

Write, girl, write!
