So. [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge read what's online, and since I trust his judgment and his bias, I asked the question I've been obsessing over (though God knows why.)

Bearing in mind I am perfectly happy to make Remus bi instead of gay, and I truly believe Sirius is dead and Remus can move on, is there anything in the book to automatically rule out a past R/S relationship?

His answer? No- nothing confirming, but nothing denying. In fact, very little discussion at all.

I am happy. I think I'm so invested in this because I was so convinced I was right, and I hate being wrong. I'm happy enough to be not proven wrong and not TOTALLY jossed from AIL, I'll take what I can get. Whatever happens to Remus and Tonks in the book, hey, I'll deal. In fact, very little discussion makes me even happier, just because it means I have more freedom. So YAY!

Anyway, it's totally silly, but that took any dread I was feeling about DH out of me, and now I'm just looking forward to it. Get here already, Saturday!

*Read it as well~* Yep, nothing that will rule it out :3

Excellent. Between the two of you, I know I can believe this one. Now I can't wait to read the rest! (But I will wait. I much prefer book form. Easier on my eyes and I can read in a more comfortable seat.)

Thanks! :)

That's nice to know!
I've always written him as bi; I object to Tonks for other reasons but as long as there's no big, bold denial-fest, I'm okay.

I am disappointed to hear that the leaked book seems to be legit. I think I'll be able to wait for it now, especially with that epilogue.

I absolutely, utterly loved it D: And the epilogue is much, much better when you read the whole thing.

Glad you liked it. Me, I know what happens to my two favourite characters and I really don't care about the rest of it right now. I'm just very disappointed by that sappy epilogue.

I currently write him as gay, but bi is easy enough for me to work with. (Actually, I have a Lost Years story in my head where he sleeps with Peter's ex-girlfriend and she tells him right at THAT moment that she killed his mother. I've had that one for a long time.)

You know, my reaction after seeing OotP to R/T was "Tonks, get over him honey. If he doesn't see how utterly adorable you are, he does not deserve your fine self. Find someone who actually appreciates you, not this loser." I don't like R/T on feminist principles. It just did not work for me.

I haven't read the epilogue, but I'm actually expecting cheese. I know that there's a lot of Happily Ever After, but while I might object to some of the pat nature of it, I totally want certain people to live long happy lives and have happy fat babies that run around levitating the furniture and exploding their carrots :) I generally think epilogues are super-cheesy anyway, and really am adjusting to most of it.

But now that I know that R/S is never actively discounted, I can wait with excitement. :) I write for the parents' generation, but I read for Harry's. :)

I very, very much agree. It's not the pairing for me as much as it is how Tonks and the whole desperate-weepy-woman thing were portrayed. Unhealthy relationships aren't what I want to see positively portrayed in a book directed at kids who are around the dating age.

Me, too :) Although after seeing Tonks in OotP, I'm frustrated because if Remus can't appreciate her, she should be realizing he just doesn't deserve her. She was so freaking CUTE!

I know!! Tonks was probably one of the best parts of the OotP film, they managed to make her adorable and so damn cool at the same time.

So yes, I love Tonks, but I agree with you- R/T is an unhealthy relationship to be portraying to an impressionable age group. And I don't really see any chemistry either when I read it.

And I swear that the film producers are R/S shippers. Did anyone else notice the unnecessary closeness of R & S when Harry enters Grimmauld Place kitchen? Invade of personal space or what! I picked up on R/S vibes when I went to see PoA years ago when I was younger and pre-slasher, and hadn't even considered remus/sirius. They really do want to imply it, I'm certain.
