Okay, so hormones seem to be receding and the sun is coming out again. And here is my list of 5 things to do in the next week or so to make myself feel better.

1.) Rummage through the cabinet and find a hot oil treatment for my hair. It really, really needs it.

2.) Call the beauty parlor tonight and make an appointment to get a trim early tomorrow.

3.) Follow [livejournal.com profile] krislaugh's advice and make sure I get at LEAST a walk a day, if not more exercise than that. Because I should anyway, and it really does lift the mood.

4.) Finish the Harry-Patronus-Remus fic. I'm really, really, really, really liking how this one is coming along. I mean, really liking it. Liking it enough that I might actually get a beta for it, because it's short (um, for me, that is) and I think I'd really like to make sure this one shines. Anyone want to beta sometime next week? It's gen, with possible insinuations of Remus/Sirius.

5.) Get involved in the church musical. I was doing much better when I had youth group on Wednesday nights.

BONUS) When hubby's gone next week, make Strawberry Spinach salad and have the WHOLE BOWL to myself. Hahahahhaha! (Like he'd ever mind that anyway.)

So there's my 5-ways-of-cheering-myself-up-list.

And to justify making this public, click here for

Strawberry Spinach Salad
Very few calories, no fat.
It sounds wierd, but trust me. This is pure heaven.

Salad:
1 bag of baby spinach, pre-washed.
1 quart strawberries, washed, hulled, and quartered.
2 tbsp slivered or sliced almonds

Dressing:
1/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp basalamic vinegar
1.5 tsp olive oil
1 Tbsp minced red onion
1/4 tsp paprika
1/8 tsp salt

Toss salad ingredients together. Combine dressing ingredients; mix well. Pour dressing over salad, toss.

The salad does get a little soggy if you let it sit overnight, but it still tastes pretty darn good.

if you need some beta'ing, or just another opinion, I'd be up for it. :) It sounds interesting. I don't know how critical I can be though, so you may want to also ask someone who's (for lack of a better word) meaner. and *hugs* I hope you feel better soon hun.

I LOVE strawberry spinach salad! With a little brie on the side... Of course, that defeats the purpose of the fat free salad, but whatever. Yummy. :)

Or a nice chevre. Or really any soft cheese.

And hey- cheese has calcium! VERY important ;)

Be happy to beta. I'm bored as heck this week. (Only catch is that I'm gone in about four days and I can be a little critical.) :)

I think you might be gone before I get it done, unfortunately. Critical I don't mind- especially since I'm pretty good at filtering out comments I do agree with and comments where the matter's more subjective. But I probably won't be done the fic until Wed. or Thurs., since we're leaving this morning.

I'm a bit later, but if you need ANOTHER beta I'd be happy to and have all the time in the world. I don't think I'm mean but can be nit-picky. Not very good at Brit-picking though, although I do have the Bloomsbury books.

And yay for the cheering up list. Good job! You should set yourself at least one nice thing a day, at least two when hubby is gone.

*hugs*

I've had salad like that - very tasty. Another good one is spinach, chopped apple, chopped walnuts, bit of red onion, and bottled raspberry vinaigrette. Yum.

How short is 'short' for you? I don't have oodles of free time but you're generally pretty easy to beta for, if it's not too long.

Glad you're feeling a bit better.

Ooooh. That does sound good.

Probably 8-10 pages, single spaced, 10 pt font. (Like I said, short for me. Heh.) I've had a couple of other offers, though, so that works. :)

Thanks!

I see I missed out on your earlier ranting. Don't you dare feel bad for it either!

I finally got my hair done yesterday - cut, color and some highlights - we won't go into how long it had been since my last trim or how much grey had crept back in in six weeks time - and I felt fabulous afterwards! Then I got a manicure, pedicure and 10-minute back massage, and I was happy as a little clam. It's silly, because I'm not one to go crazy about my appearance - I mean, I want to look nice, and I am losing weight and all that stuff, but I don't harp on it anywhere near the point of vanity (and I'm totally the anti-trend when it comes to fashion!), but it was so nice to pamper myself for a few hours and I love it when my nails are long and pretty (and they're all mine, too!) and when I can rejoice for an hour or two that my hair isn't frizzing out to oblivion!

Of course, right now I'm miserable because I've got a sore throat and I'm a bit coldy as well - blech! Figures I'd come down with something right at the start of a holiday weekend!

I'm going to try it with romaine lettuce instead, because I don't like spinach at all. Oh yes - try substituting Splenda for the sugar - I make my own balsamic vinegarette salad dressing all the time and I can't taste the difference using splenda instead of the sugar!

Glad you're feeling better! And you know, hubby can't be all that thrilled having to work so much himself. It will get better!! {{{HUGS}}}

Oooh- pampering yourself is nice. Sounds like you look great ;)

Hope you like the salad! It seemed such a strange combination the first time I made it, but... mmmmm.

Thanks! :)
