Can I just say I am SO. SICK. of thinking about food?

Toby doesn't eat, and snacktimes are nightmares.

Trevor's starting solids.

I'm dieting.

Howard can fend for himself, thank God, and eats whatever I make without (serious) complaint.

And every time I look on a parenting forum or the E-forum, I see posts about how awful it is that parents allow their child to become picky eaters.

Food, food food. Who's eating what, how much, and how can I make it all.

I AM SO FUCKING SICK OF THINKING ABOUT FOOD.

Sorry. It hasn't even been one of those days.

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I really think that all children are picky eaters to some extent. You sound like you're a great parent and you're not to blame for anything.

Thanks :) It does go beyond pickiness in his case, though. ::sigh:: One day, he'll be eating me out of house and home, and I'll look back in these days and laugh... Right?

It sucks that food is such a loaded issue. I mean, we all DO need to eat, whereas a lot of other headaches can be put off. I hate thinking about food, too - whether I'm cooking one dinner or two (can I eat what they're having and will they eat what I'm having? how does something need to be modified? do I just need a separate side dish?), what food I have to take when I go somewhere, how to handle dining out, what will accommodate most people's preferences, blah blah blah.

Anyway - even though the circumstances are totally different, I feel your pain.

Side note: Again, it was great to see you on Fri! :)

It was great to see you guys, too! Thanks again- we really enjoyed it.

And I figured you would, because that's exactly it. It's not just "ooh, chicken would be good tonight." That would be WAY too easy.

It may not help when you're in the thick of it, but my brother was a hellishly picky eater until he was 18 and left home, and he grew up just fine. He's now a happily married lawyer with two kids - neither of whom are picky in the slightest! Your son will be okay.

Thanks :)

My sister used to be a very picky eater. After one particularly torturous snacktime, I picked up the phone and when she answered, just shouted, "You are SO lucky Mom and Dad never left you to the wolves!"

I'm so ticked her daughter eats anything that won't eat her back! :)

Have you thought about getting a medium or large mongrel dog? I've never seen one with food issues. It'll scarf down everything it's given, steal more and just generally interact with food in such a positive and healthy way that it may even drive you bankrupt.

I'm also dieting. *hugs and support*

This is true! But I'll eventually have teenaged boys, and they'll accomplish the same purpose without peeing on the floor. :)

Dieting sucks, doesn't it? ::hugs back atcha:: Even Weight Watchers, which I find tolerable and is what I'm doing.

Teenage boys, blimey. My heart goes out to you - yes, ten years in advance, I know, but wow you're going to be busy!

I'm doing WW as well. The Points Plan - though I think you call it something else over there? As you say, it is tolerable. First time I've ever done anything like this, but it certainly needed doing...!
