Well, my f-list just exploded, didn't it?

While my guy didn't win, I never expected him to. Third party candidates don't, and that was the point of voting that way because sometimes (like 2004) they should.

I wouldn't have been in tears to see McCain win, but I'm happier that Obama won. If I had to pick between the two, I liked Obama better. However, my point is that I shouldn't have to choose between two- lots of times more of us would like more options.

Either way, we are going to be rid of Bush, and that can only be a good thing. So, yay for President Obama! Now get us the fuck out of New Caprica Iraq!

ETA: Um, is there some sort of irony in today being Guy Fawkes Day as well? Somehow, it sort of seems like it, although I can't quite put my finger on why. I guess just the change. Also, sort of going with Guy Fawkes day (i.e., about Zarek, who likes to blow up government buildings) Little ficlet for Sekrit Cabal Battle.

I'm a Liberal Democrat in my own country, so I know how it feels voting for the third party knowing that the Labour or Conservative candidate will always win.

I'm giving a big (yet hesistant) YAY to Obama's win too. America (and the world) needs hope and it needs change. Now lets see if this guy can really deliver.

I really hope he can. Especially on getting us out of Iraq. I've been opposed to that from the beginning (hell, I was opposed to US military action in Afghanistan), so that's the biggest reason I would have voted for Obama over McCain if I thought it was going to be closer.

I think next election I might even try to get more involved in promoting/grass roots or something. The whole two party system really just... ick. ::Sigh::

I'm a third party person, too. We're all about coalitions around here though so there's usually the problem that you vote for the Free Democrats and then they end up making a coalition with the Christian Democrats (German version of Republicans), therefore the candidate you despise ends up in office. So, it could be worse ;).

I don't know anything about US politics so I refuse to have an opinion on the candidates even though Obama sounds better (but he's been promoted by our press, too, so how would I know?). I'm sure it won't be overlooked by international TV if he screws up, although it might be if he doesn't. :D

Cool. I know nothing about Germen politics, so it's nice to get a little background :)

And I'm sure it will be loudly announced if he screws up. You know, you couldn't pay me enough to be President. It's just not a fun job.

Unrelated, but did you know the Azkaban's Lair archive closed? The owner even removed all traces of the fics from the Wayback Machine on the grounds that she and only she had permission to post the fics. I'd be curious to know what you think of that, having been archived there.

I heard about it the other day.

To be honest, I don't care at all. I figure once I give a person permission to archive/post my fic, that fic is out of my hands in terms of publication. (Not in terms of alterations, etc.) If I lost my fic because of it, that's my own fault because I should have had backup somewhere. (I didn't lose it anyway.) I'm responsible for the archival of my fics, and this is kind of like one source being removed. So, it doesn't phase me one bit.

I actually very much appreciate that if she was not going to keep the site up that she removed the fics. I agree with her I gave HER permission to post them, but not someone else. It would have been nice if she could have kept the site up and just not updated it, but it's her decision.

From a reading perspective, it's a bummer and I wish she'd advertised a little more loudly. But I'd read most of the fics there anyway, I think ;)

So, yeah. Doesn't bother me at all :)

That's good to know; it seems to be bothering a lot of other people but if it doesn't bother the writers I suppose it doesn't matter.
