A Letter to Texas From a Registered Republican (with a Ph.D.)

Dear Texas (and the other 18 states),

What are you thinking? Honestly. Was this anything other than an act of hate?

I'm an American. I love this country in many ways. But what I love most of all is the basic principle that this country was founded on- the "old" meaning of conservative. That every man (please amend to every person) had the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The Constitution was created to protect our rights as American citizens. State's constitutions were created to do the same thing, on a smaller scale. How is amending such a document to take away rights remotely Constitutional? How is it American?

I am not asking you to believe that homosexuals should marry. That's taking away your rights to believe what you want to believe, and as a Christian, I can not deny that the Old Testament (and Paul, but Paul had his own issues) is quite explicit about homosexuality. But your beliefs should not dictate what someone else can do, particularly if those actions harm no one.

FIC: The Need to Apologize

Don't die of the shock... it's a fic! I know, I know.

It's a short one, and nothing I've been meant to be doing. However, it comes from a prompt from ages ago where Sirius had to deal with Marge when he was in dog form. I was in a bit of a silly mood today, so it got finished.

GIP!!!!! I finally get to do it!!!! YES!

Happy birthday to me... I finally bought my birthday present to myself- a paid account. Whoohoo! I'd been thinking "nah, I'm not a computer geek, I don't need one"... but icons really make one reconsider. Especially when you look at the price of an account anyway.

And look what I finally got! An Accio Bananas icon that ladynoodle made me! Now I need to go find more icons. MORE, I tell you, MORE!!!! I can have a WTF icon! I can make a MRFH icon!

If you can't tell, I also made pecan pie squares today for a dinner I'm leaving for in- oh- a few minutes, I guess. I don't make them often because my husband isn't a big fan. He's not a sugar eater, and pecan pie does have quite a bit of sugar. Of course I had to test them and make sure they were appropriate for consumption. For how crappy my night went last night, today is turning out pretty darn good, I must say.

Thank you to everyone who's wished me happy birthday, btw :) It really means a lot.

And thank you thank you THANK YOU again to nessa_owen, who wrote me (wait for it...) dominant!Sirius fic. You must read it: it's called Wake Me. I love Nessa's fics because, like me, she can't write PWP- she has to go put that emotional stuff in there. And this is a dominant Sirius/submissive Remus for all the RIGHT reasons- not Sirius being an asshole and Remus being spineless, but because of Remus wanting to give up control and Sirius's need to protect and because they both think it's really, really hot. You can tell from this fic it's not like their entire relationship is always D/s- it's just something they do sometimes.

And yes. I really, really like it. :)

Okay. Now that I'm done reccing porn, I'll be off to the church dinner. Go figure.
