First, a fic rec. The gift for me was finally posted at [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts, and the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] sambethe decided to do my request for a HP/BSG crossover. Unfinished Business is a story where Alice and Lily accidentally pull Felix Gaeta into 1980's Wizarding England. (Bear in mind these are meant to be short, so if you're interested in the hows you might be a little disappointed, but the what happens are fun and what I'm far more interested in and wanted.) Felix and Sirius strike up a friendship, it's PG if that, and it's nice and short (but not too short) and awesome. Go read it.

Thank you everyone who wished me luck with orientation yesterday. It went well, aside from the traffic. (The traffic SUCKED, and that was lighter than what it's going to be.) Apparently we're eligible for the Ronald McDonald House, which is something I hadn't considered. We might think about it. As I anticipated, the orientation was fine and at least helped me picture what this is going to be like, and I liked the psychologist very much. It's gonna be a hard month- can we start it already? That's really what's killing me now- the waiting.

Also, watched the commentary for webisode #7.

Jane was talking about how she was glad they'd gone for the kiss instead of the sex on New Caprica, because it suited this "sweet little romance." Um, sweet????? In webisode 8, the Eight has all the people on Felix's list killed. How is this a SWEET little romance, at least from her side? Yeesh.

Jane, sweetie, I can see how you mean it's sweet now, but it's clearly not sweet later. especially when he guts her with the scalpel.

*hugs*

And yeah, um, I would be all for a Felix (AJ) sex scene so long as he's a camera hog, y'know? >:3

You know, I'm all for the kissing, but that's generally where I can stop. I'm more a fade to black kind of girl.

Or a shower. The shower scenes, hey. I'll watch. But the sex... nah. Not for me. Especially since a.) I'm married, and b.) the actor is younger than me by enough that it squicks me a little bit. And yeah, I tend to think that people look stupid having sex, so it's just... yeah.

Teehee, he's older than me and I'm unattached so~ yeah. X3

I have always had a lot of respect for Jane Espenson, have read her book on Joss Whedon, regularly have taken advice from her blog about writing. But this whole "Sweet Eight" thing has kind of freaked me out from the beginning. How does she *see* it that way? I just don't get it....

It's not even sweet now, not if she's secretly killing everybody on his lists. God, did he make multiple lists? Poor Felix.

I really hope we find out on Webisode 9 what her reasoning was for killing all those people. She clearly seemed to be engineering the deaths. I don't think she was being forced into it by Cavil or anyone.

Yeah, I don't get the sweet aspect of it at all. Between killing the Raptor people and killing the people on his lists... there is nothing sweet about this. I can get where they wanted us to think that until the end of this episode, but Jane's in the commentary, and has already told us who the killer is.

I'm glad they didn't do the sex just because I'm not much into watching the sex. The kiss and then him sleeping naked was enough for me to figure out what went on, and I find that classier.

But yeah, a lot of my opinion of the murder mystery hinges on Webisode 9. I'm really confused by the logic here. (Example: she killed all these people off instead of just jumping them back to the Fleet? I don't get it. I don't think she was planning on letting Felix live, either. I think she just saved him for last.) I like the idea she was taking him to Cavil, too, but not that Cavil was forcing her. Just that she wanted to switch sides of her own accord.

I'm also hoping that it #9 we get some hint that Felix thinks that Hoshi's out there looking for him. In #10 he says "he did it", like he KNEW Hoshi would be looking for him. Which made me grin. But I want to see a little more evidence that Gaeta does have a good opinion of Hoshi. Because the guy really grew on me this webisode, and he deserves to have his boyfriend not treat him like TOTAL shit :)

Hmm...see, I would be okay with the on-screen sex, but I agree with you on the classiness of how they shot it, although for me, what was most classy about it was the efficiency of it. One shot told me everything I needed to know, and it was even doing double duty for showing us what the Eight was doing. Btw, I found it supremely ironic that Felix was asleep for this crucial reveal, whereas his big defense to Tigh for not taking a vacation was that he only sleeps like two or three hours a night.

'm also hoping that it #9 we get some hint that Felix thinks that Hoshi's out there looking for him. In #10 he says "he did it", like he KNEW Hoshi would be looking for him.

I MISSED THAT! I'll have to go back to #10 and look!

I'm still a Gaeta/Baltar shipper, but Hoshi *so* won my heart these webisodes, even with his flower-child speech to Tigh, which only worked because Brad delivered it with such endearing earnestness.

I don't know if Eight was planning to kill him or not. But I too had secretly hoped that she wanted to switch sides and take Felix with her. After all, they spent much of Season 4.0 laying groundwork for Eights being untrustworthy and fickle. They could've totally used that.

And yes. Hoshi deserves better from Felix. I've loved all this Hoshi/Gaeta fic that's come out in the last week, but it's also been so painful to see Hoshi being treated so badly.

Btw, FWIW, I really hope the eating hospital stuff goes as smoothly as possible. I'm glad you are liking Toby's doctors. That's huge, right?

LOL, my thoughts exactly. Hoshi is such a latter-day hippie. http://community.livejournal.com/gaeta_squee/248797.html?thread=1306589#t1306589

LOL IRL, someone needs to write a hippie!Hoshi fic like now. XD

(I screwed that up btw- Amethyst was thought by the Greeks to prevent inebriation. I don't know what the stone for calming someone is. :B)

Thanks on the eating hospital! Fingers crossed.

Yup. When the Raptor shows up, Felix says "He did it." (Also? In w#8, when Hoshi agrees to go home? He cries.)

hich only worked because Brad delivered it with such endearing earnestness.

Yeah. I have to change that speech for Narcho. Because it doesn't work if you don't have BD saying it.

I've loved all this Hoshi/Gaeta fic that's come out in the last week, but it's also been so painful to see Hoshi being treated so badly.

I am a firm believer now that pre-Demetrius, they had a really good relationship, and that's what Racetrack's comments at the beginning of #7 are meant to show us. And darn it, I'm putting that in the fic I'm writing for [livejournal.com profile] tin_o_biscuits. Well, sort of. :)

What's interesting is that Racetrack says that they all were waiting and waiting for Hoshi and Gaeta to hook up. I wonder what made them all think Gaeta/Hoshi made such a good match? Was it more than they both worked together in the CIC and both like dudes?

Hmm....feels Racetrack POV drabble coming on....

Must add to "how they met"... (because really, how they met is pretty boring. "Hey, you have my job on the only other battleship!")

Aw, there's more to it than that. I mean sure they probly talked about job stuff (I bet they have nicknames for their Dradis consoles. So when they got mad at it it wasn't like "Frak you, Dradis!" ... Or that's just me and my car. XB) but Louis totally felt a ~*connection*~ yknow? IDK, obvs you're better at this 'writing' thing than I.

I'm with you on not liking sex scenes. I'm okay with it as long as it serves the plot. Nothing wrong with adding a pretty picture to a good story. But usually the sex doesn't serve a purpose whatsoever. The way they shot it, without the sex, it was done efficiently. No need to waste time with sex if we could be getting interesting lines.

I'm glad everything went fine with the orientation. I read your entry about it but I think I got distracted and didn't leave a comment. :)

The creepy Eight reminds me a lot of my random Eight in the current chapter of "Back to Earth", BTW. Which is creepy because mine isn't going to kill... no damn, wait. She might just. :D But, she's not the kind who murders random people in raptors.
