It's Friday. I'm happy. My mid-year review is over. I'm happy. (My boss- NOT the one from the last post- is really good about telling us if something's bothering him WHEN IT CROPS UP, so reviews are very, very painless.) And I'm tired of being cranky.

So. Five things to be happy about today, without resorting to the obvious:

1.) It's absolutely gorgoeus. Like, perfect heat, sunshine, and a nice breeze. It feels GOOD outside.
2.) The weekend will be here tomorrow, but even better, my husband will be home from Indiana tonight.
3.) After looking at [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose's lovely anatomy lesson featuring Hugh Jackman...
4.) I went back and read my Men of the Moment article for Mutant Reviewers. It's still one of my favorite articles I've ever written.
5.) I have sausage soup for dinner tonight. Silly, I know. But sometimes that's all I need.

In writing news:

I seem to have utter writer's block. I have two pages written for Accidentally In Love, but three challenges to finish by August 15:

1.) The [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon challenge: Hermione discovering that Lupin is a werewolf and deciding to keep it secret.
2.) The [livejournal.com profile] hp_synergy challenge with [livejournal.com profile] andreanna, which is supposed to be Remus/Sirius post-Azkaban, but... well, I saw her latest pic, and [livejournal.com profile] andreanna? How would you feel about (don't shoot me, f-list) R/T post R/S from Remus's pov?
3.) The Wolfstar Lost Years challenge, which I'm not telling anyone my idea for because I'm really, really, really excited about it.

For anyone wondering, I fully intend to continue with Accidentally in Love, since it was basically untouched by canon, except the addition of Fenrir Greyback (which will be WAY too much fun) and more information on Regulus (see note about Greyback). But I felt like I really rushed the last chapter and it showed- a couple people commented that it was very expository, and I agree. So I'm taking my time, especially now that I'm not racing new canon.

And lastly:

I have this idea for a challenge, but I don't know if there would be any interest in it. We did it at a Pern club that I was in, and it led to some GREAT stories. The premise: you pick a character. ANY character, from someone with a two-sentence mention like Alphard to Harry himself. And then you write about the best day of their life. The one catch: it cannot be a how-we-got-together/wedding/obviously shippy thing. (But I hesitate to say no ship at all, because if you pick Arthur, there's a good chance Molly's involved, or something like that.) But I'd say keep it PG-13 or even lower, just because it makes people branch out to other great things in life besides romantic love. The stories were pretty short- generally two pages in Word- some even shorter. Would anyone be interested in writing something like that? I'm just kind of trying to see what sort of interest would be out there.

Anyway, it's almost the weekend. Wheee!

Happy to see you happy again! ♥

Yes, I'd be interested in the best day challenge. Need something to kickstart me at the moment. :D

heh. Actually the funny thing is I've been relatively happy in real life- I just seem to post when I'm grouchy. (And hey- pregnancy hormones and this heat make anyone grouchy!)

And cool. There's one!

That would be a fun challenge. I like short, happy stories.

And I totally hear you about the writer's block. Well, not really block for me, just...lack of interest. I'm blaming fandom burnout. :)

I like them too. It was really interesting, too, to see what people came up with when the subject of sex was taken away. It generated some really unique stories, if I remember right.

Totally understand fandom burnout. I kind of wonder if that's partly what's happening to me. I feel like there's a lot of new information to incorporate, and yet, not as much as I'd like in terms of fandom stuff. (Especially since I never write Harry-fic.) And already I'm tired of some of the discussions going around about the new book- especially since I don't get too into Snape. Ah well! Maybe I'll actually finish my Sirius meet Marge fic one of these days, and that will get me going.

Hi, just letting you know I've friended you recently. I'd probably go in for the challenge you're talking about, seeing as I seem to specialize in short and fluffy when I write at all, and I'd certainly be interested in reading if it happens.

Great to see you around! :)*hugs*

Yeah, she draws some great stuff!

Good to see you, too! It's largely sheer laziness that's getting me not to try to set up a new Immeritus account or try to sort this one out. ::sigh:: Especially since we didn't get much Sirius info in this book... ::sniff::

You should come though.. the new place's amazing!

The Encyclopedia's on its way, the HBP Forum's full with new topics and the spiler ban expires today. And we have new art. :) and some new staff *grin*.

Plus, we've got almost 4000 members!! Wee!! Immy's growing up. *proud*

It'd be great to see you around again. *hugs*

Glad you're having a happy friday! Hope the weekend is even better.

I really like the happiest day challenge idea. I don't know honestly if I'd write anything for it, cause that sounds like a lot of cheer to muster up in one go, but I'd LOVE to read what other people come up with, if that's any good of a motivation...

Cool. :) Thanks for the input. I might see about setting up a community- people seem pretty happy about the idea. And it would just be a nice, happy little thing....

I love your challenge idea, except I can't seem to write for them. (Pokes and scowls at unfinished Poetry challenge fic from April.) I however would like to see it happen, and I might feel inspired...

It's nice to have a good Friday! I hear you about husbands being home!

I'm almost thinking no real deadline, even. Just something happy and nice and let's-get-off-the-fanwanking type thing and enjoy summer :)

And yeah. Husbands traveling (especially constantly) sucks!

No deadlines? I like that. :-) You could maybe call it "The Patronus Challenge" or something, since one needs a happy memory to invoke the charm.

I think that sort of challenge would be great! Also, the idea of R/T post R/S seems like it would make for a great story.

Lissa, I dunno if you remember me, I'm PadfootStar from Immeritus and I got a LJ just recently. I've read and enjoyed all your fics at Immy, and I absolutely LOVE AIL. Do you mind if I friend you so that I can keep up with it? I've also been keeping people linked to your new chapters since you had account problems on Immy.

I've been lurking at your LJ for quite some time now to watch out for your fic reccomendations which are always fantastic. I hope you don't mind :)

Hey- of COURSE I remember you! I've looked around Immeritus without registering and seen you linking, and can I just say THANK YOU? I'm too lazy to really sort out my account problems, but I really liked a lot of the people that were there. (I suspect I might be more inclined to sort it out if we'd gotten more info about Sirius in this last book, but given that there was no trip to the underworld or anything... ::Sigh::)

Anyway- I certainly don't mind at all! Lurk away! :)

'Patronus challenge' seems like a good title for the HP version. I like the idea-- a bit of non-angst is good. Do you mind if I repeat it on my LJ (mentioning where it came from, of course)?

And since this seems to be the coming-out-of-the-woodwork thread, do you mind if I friend you, too?

I don't mind at all- either the repetition or the friending :)
