It's a Great Day to Be Alive....
Jul. 29th, 2005 02:11 pmIt's Friday. I'm happy. My mid-year review is over. I'm happy. (My boss- NOT the one from the last post- is really good about telling us if something's bothering him WHEN IT CROPS UP, so reviews are very, very painless.) And I'm tired of being cranky.
So. Five things to be happy about today, without resorting to the obvious:
1.) It's absolutely gorgoeus. Like, perfect heat, sunshine, and a nice breeze. It feels GOOD outside.
2.) The weekend will be here tomorrow, but even better, my husband will be home from Indiana tonight.
3.) After looking at
thistlerose's lovely anatomy lesson featuring Hugh Jackman...
4.) I went back and read my Men of the Moment article for Mutant Reviewers. It's still one of my favorite articles I've ever written.
5.) I have sausage soup for dinner tonight. Silly, I know. But sometimes that's all I need.
In writing news:
I seem to have utter writer's block. I have two pages written for Accidentally In Love, but three challenges to finish by August 15:
1.) The
femgenficathon challenge: Hermione discovering that Lupin is a werewolf and deciding to keep it secret.
2.) The
hp_synergy challenge with
andreanna, which is supposed to be Remus/Sirius post-Azkaban, but... well, I saw her latest pic, and
andreanna? How would you feel about (don't shoot me, f-list) R/T post R/S from Remus's pov?
3.) The Wolfstar Lost Years challenge, which I'm not telling anyone my idea for because I'm really, really, really excited about it.
For anyone wondering, I fully intend to continue with Accidentally in Love, since it was basically untouched by canon, except the addition of Fenrir Greyback (which will be WAY too much fun) and more information on Regulus (see note about Greyback). But I felt like I really rushed the last chapter and it showed- a couple people commented that it was very expository, and I agree. So I'm taking my time, especially now that I'm not racing new canon.
And lastly:
I have this idea for a challenge, but I don't know if there would be any interest in it. We did it at a Pern club that I was in, and it led to some GREAT stories. The premise: you pick a character. ANY character, from someone with a two-sentence mention like Alphard to Harry himself. And then you write about the best day of their life. The one catch: it cannot be a how-we-got-together/wedding/obviously shippy thing. (But I hesitate to say no ship at all, because if you pick Arthur, there's a good chance Molly's involved, or something like that.) But I'd say keep it PG-13 or even lower, just because it makes people branch out to other great things in life besides romantic love. The stories were pretty short- generally two pages in Word- some even shorter. Would anyone be interested in writing something like that? I'm just kind of trying to see what sort of interest would be out there.
Anyway, it's almost the weekend. Wheee!

Date: 2005-07-30 01:06 am (UTC)I really like the happiest day challenge idea. I don't know honestly if I'd write anything for it, cause that sounds like a lot of cheer to muster up in one go, but I'd LOVE to read what other people come up with, if that's any good of a motivation...
