No, not my art, although I've spent a good portion of the day painting a zebra.
I've FINALLY found a decent picture of Rufus Scrimgeour! It's by
caladan_dd and can be seen here. I normally don't go searching out her work because she's a very R/T oriented artist, but she really does beautiful stuff.
Why do I remotely care about Rufus Scrimgeour, whose name I had to write down in order to even spell correctly? Honestly? I don't. (Except I was right that he'd be someone who was anti-Voldemort and still not make things easy for Harry and a bit Barty Crouch-ish, in that he ordered more severe methods of dealing with potential Death Eaters, but I thought the MoM would be Amos Diggory. Anyway.) But Damien Lupin was based on the Lion Man description that ended up being Scrimgeour, so I've been keeping an eye out for any artist impressions of him. (If anyone finds any others, please tell me.)
This is pretty close, actually, to how I picture Damien in the HBP timeline. (Not that we've ever seen him there, but hey.) The robes are much more ornate, but Damien in HBP timeline is a.) no longer an Auror and b.) supposed to not have much money. Not poor, mind you, but not remotely rich. And definitely the shagginess fits that timeframe. But what I find really interesting is if you compare her version of Scrimgeour to her version of Remus. They could be father and son, couldn't they? I don't think I was the only one who got the whole idea of the Lion Man being Remus's father, and when you look at the few pieces of art out there, I think you can see why.
Anyway, it's not dead on, but I'm just pleased that I can finally say I really like one of her pieces. She's a fabulous artist, but we all know how I feel about R/T.

Date: 2005-10-20 09:23 pm (UTC)I know Fudge was still MoM, but given the way Scrimgeour is mentioned in HBP, and the way he's referred to periodically by others, I get the impression there's a passing mention of him in his prior job in OotP (kind of like how Sirius got a passing mention in PS/SS, but didn't become important until PoA). However, I can't recall where this passing mention might be. Maybe in the scene where Arthur takes Harry to the Ministry? I'll have to hunt further.

Date: 2005-10-20 09:28 pm (UTC)He only gets mentioned once, just in passing (chapter 7):
Lupin glanced at Harry, then said to Tonks, 'What were you saying about Scrimgeour?'
'Oh . . . yeah . . . well, we need to be a bit more careful, he's been asking Kingsley and me funny questions . . .'
I've been looking through
