I made a new icon just for this post. Like it? (Somehow, I suspect it will come in very useful anyway.)

So. It's been over six weeks since I had Toby. When I had Toby, I went in on Friday, had the C-section at 5:30 on Friday night. I didn't leave the hospital until Tuesday morning. From the birth to the discharge, that's about 90 hours.

Sometime, in that ninety hours, do you think my doctor could have found time to tell me they removed two cysts????

Sure, they weren't malignant. Happy ending and all- they weren't any big deal. But that's not the point. The point is, IF YOU'RE DOING A SURGICAL PROCEDURE ON ME, YOU SHOULD TELL ME YOU DID IT!!!!!! (Hell, you should probably ask for my consent or my husband's, but I'm not sure about that.) I should NOT be finding out I had a cystectomy six weeks later at my post-partum checkup!

Honestly.

Idiots.

In other news, I submitted my Brokeback Mountain review. I'll post when it's up. And I've already started Accidentally In Love 11. Whoohoo! (Okay, so I've only written a few paragraphs. But STILL.)

I should do housework or something. Or take a bath.

Freaking doctor.

Oh, my goodness, they didn't tell you? That's just ridiculous. I can understand them wanting to remove them and have them tested, but they couldn't have just peeked over the curtain and mentioned it? You were right there, and not under general anesthesia, and as you said, they could have asked your husband. Yeah, I'd be a little peeved, to say the least. Yikes.

After my last c-section, I had a lot of scar tissue -- I actually did have to go under general anesthesia because the epidural wasn't working -- and he removed all that, but he at least told my husband what he was doing and why it would take longer to close me up.

But I'm glad to hear the tests were all normal.

It's bizarre. I don't mind them doing it (because I would have totally given consent), but sheesh. Also, our family doctor was very surprised that they let me go six weeks without seeing me for a C-section. I'm almost tempted to switch OB/gyns, but.... ::sigh:: I'll probably stick with this one until we have baby #2. We'll see. That really turned me off.

They removed two cysts WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT!!! Omg.

Maybe the consent forms you signed when you were admitted might have a clause about how they can proceed with things like that? Otherwise, that's a big WTF. And the fact that they didn't tell you for six weeks is also very unsettling. On the other hand, thank goodness everything is OK and they were not malignant.

There may have been something like that in the consent forms. I'm not even as upset about the consent issue, because, well, I would have consented in a heartbeat, and I guess it was minor. But still.... It's disturbing. Also, our family doctor is a little surprised that they didn't see me at 4 weeks post-partum because I was a C-section. (So far, our family doctor kicks ass. We had a question about switching Toby over to formula, and we called and talked to the nurse practitioner. She answered our question very well, and we were happy there. Well, that night the doctor actually called to check up and make sure everything was going okay. It's a small thing, but it really REALLY impressed me that he would do that.) I'm debating switching OB/gyns though. :P We'll see.

I agree that they were way out of line for not telling you what was going on, or what they did. I'd object very strenuously to your Ob/Gyn even if you're going to keep him as your doctor. And it's also incredible that they waited so long to check up on you. I had a nurse sent to visit my house the same week I was released from the hospital to make sure everything looked okay. Most places won't do that, but a follow up within a week is probably about right.

In other news, my Brokeback Mountain review went up today, so yours will probably be following shortly. (I think Justin fudged the queue since I had the extras done on mine.)
