God, if Toby would keep this pattern up, I'd be a happy, happy camper. He went to bed at 10:30-11:00 last night, and slept until 6:30. He took a bottle and then went back to sleep. Heaven. Absolute heaven. And now that I'm pretty much healed from the surgery, I actually have the energy to get up at 6:30 and do things for me. I got a workout in!

While I was working out, I listened to my Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other CD. I've forgotten just how much Marillion kicks ass. I need to pull my Marillion CDs out more often. I also haven't bought any of the newer ones- I admit I prefer Fish over Steve Hogarth just a bit. It's funny that the producers had a toss up between promoting them and Genesis- the lead singer changeover is so similiar. (Even to the extent of both Fish and Peter Gabriel going on to have solo stuff I really like.) If people must write songfic, why can't they use Marillion? (Of course, I mainly read MWPP, and Marillion didn't really appear until 1982. But still.)

Switching topics completely...

I really love that rare review where someone sees something in your character or fic that you didn't intend to put there, but at the same time you did and it works. I got this comment on FAP on AIL 10:

though it seems rather reckless to read We the Living while just inside the Soviet border. Much to my surprise, I kind of like your Regulus already.

I never thought about it, but he's right. I just thought it was funny for Regulus to be reading We the Living. That's so cool :)

And yes, I'm deliberately steering towards the shallow today. Between my grandmother and the fact today would have been my dad's 57th birthday, shallow is good. Definitely loving the shallow.

Seriously. Someone needs to write a fic for "Warm Wet Circles." Or a Peter fic called "Uninvited Guest."

ETA: Just for the record? Writing a good Regulus is hard. I mean, the guy essentially committed suicide because he couldn't stand what he'd done, but that's not quite it either. How can a character that gets three frigging mentions be so complicated?

It's a huge relief!

I feel that way about Peter, too. And if I was going to do a remix of my own stuff and WIPs were eligble, I'd rewrite AIL from Peter's POV.

Have you read "Running Close to the Ground"? I believe that's a Peter fic. [livejournal.com profile] geheri, I believe. I've heard it's very good, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet.

You have a pretty interesting Peter and I love his cleverness. You have so much on your plate, or I beg you for an outtake from AIL in his point of view. I feel I understand his surface motivations, but not some of his deeper ones. And I'd love to learn more about Tina, who I've had serious reservations about ever since she showed up at the Lupin place. And it seems Peter's POV would be the best vehicle for that.
